If you think your wife having/making more money than you means the courts won't make you pay alimony and/or child support in the event of a divorce, you're woefully misinformed.

It certainly could work out that way, but it's not at all guaranteed. Especially child support.


If you think that the courts would make a husband who makes far less than the wife pay alimony to the wife, *you're* woefully misinformed. In that case, the husband is far more likely to get alimony and that's bearing in mind that the division of assets tries to split things up nearly equally (in the absence of a pre-nup)

As for the child, whoever has majority custody is entitled to support (and no, gender doesn't matter although personal finances might). If you have two working parents with equally split custody, there's likely to not be any child support unless there's a massive disparity in income.
