Which I suppose was sort of fun and creative, even if it was terribly non-aerodynamic and had no chance to win anything (which I knew in advance). But the Pinewood Derby always seemed to me to be a case where the Scouts' dads all got to design the racers for them, because none of us were making our own, and none of us really seemed all that invested in the process.
