Olympia WA actually has a pretty low cost of living and decently high min wage.

You can get a 1 bedroom for about $900, but there are some for at little as 799$ (very hard to find though). You'll probably average at 1k though.

That being said, my house is a 3 bedroom + office, with 2 living rooms, 3 bathrooms, 2 kitchens, walk in closet, and basement area (+garage), and I could only rent the whole thing for about $2k a month if I wanted (and it has an amazing view of pugents sound from the upstairs balconies/bedroom/livingroom).

You can probably rent a room around here for $500 if you really pushed it.

You could not get a very small apartment in Gilroy CA (Bay area) for much less then the cost of where I live right now.

Cost of living varies GREATLY. There are certainly places cheaper then Olympia as well. You can probably find places where you could rent a 1 bedroom for $500 without too much trouble.
