Depends on the size of the house and the location, if you are within "city limits" mortgages are around $500 - $800 a month. Suburbs are typically more.

I actually got a huge raise as I was house hunting so I raised my budget. My current mortgage is ~$1250 a month for a 3 bedroom on about 1/2 an acre. The only reason it is that high is because my taxes account for about 1/3 of the mortgage.
