I really hate the smug gaming community sometimes, especially when they get ticked off at a developer for taking away their cheating tools. Here is what happened.

There is a popular cheat mod on GTA V online and Take 2 told the developers of the mod to take it down because it's messing up the games online economic system. If they didn't they would issue a cease and desist anyway. So, the mod got taken down, and now Steam reviews of GTA 5 are all of a sudden negative.

I'm quite sure that someone isn't going to not buy GTA V just because of some steam reviews, as the game is 4 years old now. However, to act like a baby when something illegal is taking away from you is absurd and juvenile. Besides what if this wasn't a high profile game, but a small indie game from an indie developer hoping word of mouth will help sell the game?

Get over yourselves... ugh... I'm sorry, but they made GTA to make money, not to provide you an avenue to hose over fair minded people...

Also one of my pet peeves, tbh. Actually, it's a few of my pet peeves since retaliatory reviews for non-product issues are another aggravation although, at least, this probably includes users of the product unlike SJWs brigading the Yelp page for a business they've never used.

This actually kinda broaches the age-old debate of making games entertaining through modding, to which I always ask: if you need to mod a game to squeeze enjoyment out of it, how does that make the base game good?

While I've sometimes considered that argument, to some extent it's analogous to any number of food comparisons where you could say that if fries were truly good they wouldn't need ketchup, or if ice cream was good it wouldn't need sprinkles, or chicken wouldn't need sauce, etc. Ultimately, I can kinda see it as a matter of preference where some people can enjoy something one way but get more fun out of it another way.

By contrast, there are a lot of activities which people only enjoy drunk or high, which strikes me as being a more significant "modification" to the enjoyment of an activity.
