Unfortunate, but it could be worse. She could've disowned you

Honestly, I kind of wish she would have. I appreciate her, she has done a lot for me and continues to do a lot, but ehhh it's complicated. Things would be a lot less complicated if I had a definitive reason to just not talk to her anymore.

My thoughts exactly when reading some of these responses.

I get it. It's why I tried so hard not to laugh, I didn't want my nephew to think I was laughing at him. Stuff you are taught in your childhood are hard to overcome especially when they are taught to you by someone you really look up to. Getting taught that how you feel and who you are is wrong or not normal as a child certainly can make those teenage and early adult years that much worse.

Kudos to that kid's mom for not shutting him down and inevitably making him feel like shit later in life.

She is pretty confident he is not gay, just that he is misunderstanding the concept and she is basing that with how he interacts with girls his age. According to her he is quite popular with the girls.

That said she has also openly admitted to not liking the idea of having a gay son. So her views on how he interacts with fellow children may be a bit bias.
