Poe was originally supposed to die (in the crash in the desert, exactly when Finn thinks he does), but test audiences actually liked the character enough for them to write in a scene where he pops up and reveals that - SURPRISE! - he actually survived. tbh, the whole scene SEEMED like ~~something which the hero would survive because no body was found.~~ Consequently, people might just be annoyed that they thought a swerve was coming and it was played straight in the test. ParanoidObsessive posted... That's part of why his presence in the film is actually a bit weak - he wasn't supposed to be in most of it. Which makes a lot of sense. ParanoidObsessive posted... She's also supposed to appear in the next two movies (or at least the next one), but honestly, I'm not sure anyone would notice or care if she didn't. She might face turn, making her relevant.
