There's been a huge renaissance of online content as an alternative entertainment model lately, but that pretty much dies the moment people can't monetize it. I don't see it as affecting much in general. As you point out, the most popular channels will still have alternative revenue streams -- most of the channels I watch get most of their money from Patreon, not ad revenue -- and, as a result, there shouldn't be that much of a drop in activity with the possible exception of channels working on tighter budgets who actually invest in their content (ie, not the LPers, vloggers, etc, who are going to be fine anyway). Likewise, it won't hurt lesser channels that greatly who likely aren't making enough to do it full-time anyway. Honestly, if it does lead to a drop in the activity of bigger channels, it could arguably break up some monopolies and give them a place at the table. Of course, the way that a lot of the things have been handled now mostly hurts the worst channels anyway, the guys who clickbait by taking extreme positions on sensationalized topics.
