Generally the only time I'm set up in a "speed trap" situation would be at a stop sign where someone was hit in the crosswalk or something. Even then I usually just warn the driver, tell them why I'm there. If they're responsive and don't blow me off, 99.9% of the time they don't get a ticket.

Traffic court sucks more for us then it does for the motorist. When Ray Kelly was commissioner we would routinely lose 3 vacation days for losing at traffic court if we were deemed to be "unprepared" (and a lot more goes into a traffic court testimony than one would expect). You're better off just not writing them even if you're a dick who enjoys it.

I live in an area where cops love speed traps and stop sign traps (I guess those aren't really traps though). I know all of the places they tend to hide, though, so none of them work on me. Every so often I'll be driving and see one on the side of the road writing a ticket for someone.
