Lopen 03/11/17 9:01:15 PM #3:	Royal Rumble 2015 This Rumble starts out pretty fun for me. R-Truth and Miz start (these two have terrible number luck) and #3 is Bubba Ray Dudley, who comes out to a huge reaction. Then Bray comes out, there's a Wyatt family scuffle, Bray is alone by #6. #7 is THE BOOGEYMAN HELL YEAH. The Rumble kinda peaks for me here, and unfortunately it wasn't even nearly as cool as it could have been. First of all Bubba Ray had just come off a great run as Bully Ray in TNA, and TNA hadn't fallen off the map yet, so people knew this. Instead he's just a retro nostalgia act here, in early 00s Dudleyz gear, and using R-Truth as the D-Von of the night. What's worse is they screw up the only reason to make it R-Truth in that for the "wazzap" headbutt they don't have R-Truth go "WHAT'S UP!?" Also Boogeyman in my humble opinion EXPOSES Bray here-- Boogeyman is so much better than Bray at acting like a crazy dude it hurts and destroys him in the "creep off" they have. Anyway it peaks here not because that was so great, but because the rest of this is just WWE trolling the audience repeatedly. Let's name the ways... Daniel Bryan gets in this year! Unceremoniously dumped out by a Bray and Rusev tandem. This causes the audience to bury the hell out of the match for quite some time, but they still like some guys. For instance, Damien Mizdow comes out at 20 something and gets a HUGE reaction! Miz tries to send him to the back, Roman Reigns prevents Miz from getting in, Mizdow goes in! He is almost immediately dumped out. The audience returns to booing with even more fury. Dean Ambrose and Ziggler also get huge reactions. They manage to last a while at least. The conclusion of the rumble really drives this home. Kane and Big Show make short work of the ring. They leave everyone laying, and very methodically lift unconscious men and gently place them on the apron, letting them fall out. You can feel the enthusiasm just draining from the crowd as it eventually gets to the cliche ending of SHIELD vs Kane and Show. Ambrose was a favorite, but everyone knows it's going to be Reigns who got the most boos out of everyone who came out, and well, it is indeed Reigns. If 2014's booking was tone deaf, this one is... just deaf. What an abomination. The Rock comes out for cheap Roman promotion-- the audience boos The Rock. Oh and pretty much every "generic" complaint I've had about various other Rumbles comes to roost here. Number of people in the ring is never at the sweet spot (most of the time too little, too crowded late). The announcers have kept their "factoid announcing style" from 2014 meaning there's no excitement in the commentary just an endless regurgitation of FACTS about NUMBERS. Lot of laying around, and lots of Dragonball "everyone looks at the entrance for people coming out" moments. Even the damn Kofi spot was dumb, involving no real athleticism from him this time. Royal Rumble Ranking 1992 > 2004 > 2002 > 1997 > 2007 > 1990 > 2011 > 2001 > 1994 > 2009 > 2003 > 2010 > 1996 > 1989 > 1988 > 2013 > 1993 > 2005 > 2008 > 1991 > 1995 > 1998 > 2014 > 2012 > 2000 > 1999 > 2006 > 2015 On the plus side, this show was not all bad! It has Miz and Mizdow, one of my favorite teams, and Mizdow's act ages pretty well and has me laughing. More importantly though... There's a triple threat between John Cena, Brock Lesnar, and Seth Rollins. This is probably my favorite Triple Threat of all time. You've got a strong dude vs a super strong dude and a scummy opportunist trying to pick the bones, and it just works so well. It's just rare to see a triple threat where the three play off of each other so well as they did here, and the whole is definitely better than the sum of its parts.
