MVP's was probably the best example of a guy who "gets it" in recent memory. When he was a heel I'm pretty sure his only "catchphrase" was "I'm better than you" and that's the kinda thing you just throw in and keep going to taunt your opponent.

Then when he turns face all the sudden he's saying "BALLINNN" and that crappy (bad execution but the idea was right) "bottles poppin" tirade all over the place. He did the BALLIN thing in matches when he was heel but yeah, kept it out of his promos. Actually it's kind of a recurring theme among the guys who are good on the mic-- Stone Cold doesn't do the "hell yeah" thing as a heel, Jericho doesn't do the "Y.. .2... J!" or "AYATOLLAH" or most of his other 19 catchphrases as a heel-- think the only one he'd do reliably is "I'm the king of the world!" which was kinda obnoxious I guess.

So I guess the only good catchphrases to have as a heel are:

- Ones that directly insult/annoy the other guy ("WHAT?" "I'm better than you")
- Just over the top obnoxious enough that the crowd hates it ("EXCUSE ME!")

The second is a lot tougher to pull off and probably what Del Rio's going for, but he should probably limit it to one catchphrase at most. I don't think his "MY NAME" or "DESTINY" really pull it off. He should just stick to calling people perros and peasants and just leave it at that.

I'm not sure why I'm going on a tirade I just think it's interesting that I've never really been able to crystalize my problem with Del Rio's (and a lot of other guys') promos till now.
