If half the series wasn't terribad, maybe more people would have beaten them all. Most people really should be falling into the 2-5 range TBQH.
It's not that half the series is terribad, it's that the series is so popular with so many different games, that people have wildly different opinions on which ones are the good ones and which weren't. AFAIK, 2 is the only one that seems to universally get the lowest regards.
I don't like 8 and 10, but those are popular amongst other players. I love 6, 9, 13, and Tactics the most, and they are disliked by other people.
It's actually a sign of a good company that they can make a diverse series of games that each game has a different fan base and each one has it's set of haters, but no one can show definitively which is which.
