this is a simple button switch, while the waggle is annoying it isn't even the core of the problem. the rolling mechanic, no matter how you input it, isn't as fun and fluid as the SNES games were

holy crap major disagree. Rolling in DKCR is awesoooome. Spamming roll jumps and completely blasthing through a level at the high speed of rolling is awesome. Then if you have Diddy & Donkey you can roll indefinitely and it's a god damn blast
