You're looking at it in the completely wrong direction. UMvC3 isn't the nickle-and-diming. MvC3 Vanilla is.
MvC3 never should have existed at all. I mean jesus, UMvC3 is coming out 9 months later. That just says it all right there. They could've just delayed the thing til holiday season and done all of this, but instead they chose to release a beta as a $60 game, and put the real game out just a few months later for another $40.
