No, you seem to be of the mentality that I'm just coming up with excuses to not rank CT #1
Well, you've been doing it for the last several weeks.

but Chrono Trigger is a mid-major equivalent. swirl even said that its RPI will plummet once conference play starts.
Chrono Trigger plays in a terrible conference, but that's because the conferences were randomly generated. If I actually put some thought into it and made the conferences myself, CT would certainly be in a "power" conference and would stand a great chance at winning it. CT playing in a bad conference isn't really something to hold against it because that isn't its own doing.

But Bowser played in the absolute worst conference last year (The only other character from his conference to make the tournament was Laharl, and that was as a 13 seed), and he won the whole thing, so CT may be hoping history repeats itself (although it plays in the 2nd worst conference this year, not the worst).

I wasn't holding it against it, just saying that it is in a weak conference, and (again, you're mining my quotes to suit your needs) that this doesn't matter because conference play hasn't started yet. Now, I can be quite vindictive at times--remember that Auburn/Clemson story? Well, that was one of only two times that I left Auburn off of my top 25--and the other was the final week, after they finished 14-0, as a protest against the shoddy officiating that allowed them to win the National Championship Game (although I later put them back on as "#1.5"). But I'm not going to do that here. Instead, I'm going to make just one more change, based solely upon your successful arguments. Drop SM64 to #2...

...and Chrono Trigger to #3. My new #1 is Super Mario Bros. 3, because contrary to popular belief, I actually do look at the matches themselves instead of just who won and who lost. CT-SMB3 came during the heart of the anti-Mario sentiment, when the series was taking over the entire top 25 and SMB3 had the #1 ranking and the big target on its back. Re-run it now, and I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if SMB3 won. And, of course, that SM64-SMB3 match could have gone either way, right? Or are you going to contradict yourself again?
