Even so, it's not like gay people are some kind of rare species. We're around. Someone being gay is not really a notable occasion.
Are you sure about that? I recently read an article about how Americans WAY over-estimate the number of gay people. The average American, when asked to estimate, estimates around 20% but the actual number is 3%. I might not have that EXACTLY right but I'll bet you it's no higher than 5.
I'm sure you read a lot of articles that say interesting things.
3% means only 1 in 33 people are gay. It's more than that even if you only count people who are publicly out of the closet.
