...did you just stop reading at "My Excadrill was pretty crappy..." or something? I literally said that it was my fault that my Excadrill was so bad.
+Excadrill isn't really an "early" Pokémon, IIRC it can't be gotten until around the 4th Gym, and even then you have to go a bit out of your way to get it at that point.
