| adjl 02/15/22 9:11:31 PM #11: | This wave is on its way out (though still very present), but that didn't mean the pandemic was over the other four times it happened, and it similarly doesn't mean it's over now. It'll be over when either cases hit zero and stay there (astronomically unlikely at this point, given how unwilling so many people worldwide are to take the necessary steps to achieve that locally, let alone globally), or when it stops being a significant source of morbidity and mortality (which is going to require a combination of higher vaccination rates and some good luck with mutations, all before giving up other infection control measures that limit the damage it can do).
