I dont understand wrestling promotions and cross events and stuff. Wrestling is acting and choreography, right? So how can someone have a good or bad wrestling 'career' in terms of wins or losses if there's literally a script of how they're gonna do? Not trying to make a 'lol wrestling is fake' post, I'm just genuinely confused about how the business and politics work

@Doe

In the WWE W/L don't really matter too much in the scale of someone's entire career. For example, Hulk Hogan. He hardly ever got beat, so when he did, it was a big deal. The Undertaker went undefeated at WrestleMania for over 20 years. That wasn't really a storyline thing until it got to around 15 wins or so. After it went over 20, fans just expected it to never end. But then Brock beat him and it was a huge shock. Like someone beating One Punch Man. He hasn't be beat yet, right? Well let's say One Punch man goes on for 20 year, never losing, and then all of the sudden, out of nowhere, someone beats him.

But those are the big cases of where Wins/Loses matter

World Championships, like the WWE Heaveweight Championship matters because it shows that the company is behind you, and thinks that you can draw in a lot of money. If you're in that position, it's a big deal because it's like being the Employee of the Month at work. It's shows that you're up there with the top people in the company

The IC Championship is usually for the really great workers. The ones that may not have the starpower of someone like The Rock, because they simply not that charismatic, but when they're in the ring they make you get really invested with the crisp looking moves, and "laying it it," meaning hitting them really f'n hard to make it sound really loud. These are things like chops, shin kicks, and headbutts

Here, watch this match. It's a short, but good one -

Build up to the match -

Shibata, the non-bald one, left New Japan Pro Wrestling to try and become an MMA fighter for real. He didn't do so well, and after a few years, he came back to Pro Wrestling. Ishii, the bald one, hates Shibata because he left New Japan to do this when New Japan needed him the most. This is both REAL and Storyline. Shibata really did fuck over New Japan when he left because New Japan was losing out on a lot of money during this time because of how popular MMA was getting over there with PRIDE. However, nobody actually hates Shibata.

Awesome match. I hope you check it out -
