Topic | The reddit sub antiwork gives me weird vibes |
Judgmenl 11/26/21 10:25:57 AM #20: | Medieval Peasants also worked ridiculous hours for their lord and were force indoctrinated into religion. I also generally do not like the crappy attitude "Europeans are better than Americans", stuff. I am pretty sure Europe doesn't even have a tech sector. It's just gross generalization that every American is a UPS / Amazon worker or something. And yes, people are lazy, especially unskilled ones. People who learn a skill or a trade (you can be a high school drop out and learn a trade) and actually use that trade are being rewarded? Who the fuck knew. adjl posted... There's a fine line between being rightfully opposed to so much of American work culture (especially at the corporate level) and seeing that opposition as validating laziness (pretending for a moment that the concept of laziness exists in the colloquial sense and that avolition can't usually be explained by an undiagnosed/untreated mental health issue). It's not surprising that a subreddit dedicated to the former would end up attracting a lot of the latter, given how Reddit has a tendency to radicalize its communities thanks to its echo chamber design.Exactly. Lynyrd_Skynyrd posted... Antiwork is terrible. I hate my job but that sub is filled with people that are hated by their bosses because they're garbage workers and then decided it's not their fault.Protip: Most workers are garbage, even in high skill environments. People who work just to make a paycheck and have no desire to work their ass off for it? Not enthusiastic? Not at all surprised. DirtBasedSoap posted... its a fake sub for upvote farmingIt's also people trying to seek moral fulfillment. Same thing with anyone who says "seek therapy". --- You're a regular Jack Kerouac Not removing this until I've left March 2020. ... Copied to Clipboard! |
