I never liked the prequel dance sequences.

This.

It's kind of cliche to point back to the RedLetterMedia reviews of the Prequels, but honestly, I kind of agree with the idea that fights that at least look somewhat "real" are far more engaging and interesting than the pre-choreographed acrobatic gymnastic demonstration nonsense of the Prequels.

I can appreciate the effort that went into planning out the scene, and the work the actors (or stunt doubles) put in to make it work, but in and of itself I usually find myself taken out of the movie and stop caring about what the story is trying to say when they happen. Because it's just two people walking their way through an endless progression of meaningless spins and twirls and pre-planned parries.

It's the difference between a Wushu weapon style exhibition, and legit trying to murder some dude you really hate with a pointy stick.

If anything, I might go with Luke in Return of the Jedi as the best fight, as it's most just psychological, playing cat and mouse, dueling with words as much as actions - followed by Luke just going full ham on Vader.

Especially this part:

It just MEANS so much more in that moment than literally anything that happens in the Prequels.

It only lasts for about 30 seconds and its so much more engaging than the 20 minute Obi vs Anakin fight in RotS

I do agree with this too, though. Because that entire sequence was just so utterly dull. After the first 5 minutes or so you're like, "Jesus, this isn't over yet?" It didn't leave me filled with a sense of wonder about all the awesome imagery and action, it just left me feeling kind of annoyed by how boring and pointless it all was.

Lucas clearly expects people to be going "Okay, this is the moment that makes everything worth it!", and I'm just like "What a waste of time."

Hell, I'd take this fight scene over pretty much anything in the Prequels. Even without the magic and laser swords:

It's still slightly on the wrong side of unrealistic, but it's not so ridiculously over the top that it becomes stupid.
