Its gorgeous start to finish, it has great dialog and cringy dialog (an FF staple!), an amazing turn based battle system, distinct characters you learn to love or hate, a fantastic soundtrack, and a world that stands out as memorable. The game opens with a bunch of weapons piled together, the party you don't know yet sitting around a fire and then one guy gets up to utter this famous phrase Listen to my story. This...may be our last chance. Its a powerful moment and you haven't even started the game. Many hours later we get back to this moment and see it play out with context. Zanarkand, the fabled city is indeed no more. This is a major yet small arc of the story that has so much weight to it. We the player saw Zanarkand but we also had the hunch it was long gone. This arc of the story ends with the confrontation with Yunalesca and the reveal of what Sin truly is. So much could have went wrong with this setup and it works so well never dropping the ball.
