Considering that we probably have a hundred federal holidays at this point, everybody should have voted against it. Pretty soon they're going to have more days off than days on.

I am 46 and literally have never heard of Juneteenth up until about 2 weeks ago.

I had heard of the name in passing over the years (probably just within the last five years and from sources trying to make it a holiday) but had no fucking clue what it meant and wouldn't have connected it to the event.

why would anyone be against MORE holidays, regardless of what they're for.

First, because we have an absurd number of holidays. Second, holidays disrupt everyday life and it's just one more thing to have to schedule around. And honestly, a lot of federal holidays don't seem to apply to everybody anyway. It's just another day when overpaid government employees are able to take a day off when they already don't work enough for what we're paying them.
