They're Crayons so... whatever? It's just releasing colors -- probably even ones they've already done -- with new marketing. I don't imagine there's much controversy at all.

Even as a white person, I've never really felt like I could accurately represent my skin colour with the crayons available in a standard box. This should be useful for pretty much anyone that's trying to draw a human.

And have you cared about accurately representing your skin tone? >_>

My first thought is that I'm not bothered by this even a little, but thinking about it a bit more, isn't giving something like this to children reinforcing the idea that skin color is very important and something they should be paying a lot of attention to? Maybe that's the way early education is heading, idk, but it seems to be the reverse direction of a post-racial world.

Well, besides reinforcing race as being significant, there's the sub-issue where it reinforces in-group racism where even within the groups darker shades are discriminated against.
