Manliness is a construct and these books are trying to sell it to people who think they'll be more manly by plugging a few sentences into their average day.

Manliness predates books and the claim that manliness is merely a construct was created by radical feminists, SJWs, etc, who are trying to grow their brand at the expense of society. The idea that manliness is diminishing in society is hardly a concept that just emerged in the last 20 years. It was so well-established that in the 90s you had things like Fight Club where the loss of manliness was a major plot point.

Pretty much every nation has either noted or is struggling with the loss of masculinity. While some of the terms become associated with authors (such as "herbivore men" in Japan), that's not quite the same thing as your claim that people are inventing things purely to sell books. Social scientists, psychologists, etc, observe phenomena and they'll write on that subject. The fact that a book exists doesn't reduce credibility, and you've certainly never argued that point when it comes to anything feminism has tried to claim despite the criticism being even *more* true in that arena given that the largest proponents tend to be uncredentialed, ill-informed self-promoting propagandists.
