Captain Marvel was middle of the road as far as solo movies go. Better than IM2-3, Thor 1-2, either Ant-Man or Dr. Strange. Not as good as IM1, Thor 3, any Cap movie, or BP

I can't think of a single MCU film actually worse than Captain Marvel, but I haven't seen either MCU Spidey... although I still expect they'd be better. Captain Marvel is kinda comparable to Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer or F4ntastic.

I quite like Thor 2 on rewatch, probably more than Thor 1. But it really needed you to be invested in the whole Asgard thing and I think for a lot of people that never really clicked, which is part of why Thor 3 killed off most of the characters.

Thor 3 pretty much cut out everybody. You didn't even have Jane Foster returning for it.

However, even if they went heavier on Asgard, I think Hela would have done a better job of keeping people interested than those fucking dark elves. In general, the problem with Thor 1 & 2 was the pacing. The first was better than the second, but even then it was slow as fuck. Thor 3 went the opposite direction by making it a madcap adventure where they were constantly hopping between shit, making it ironically the fastest-paced MCU film despite come from the slowest series. The Doctor Strange scene pretty much encapsulates the whole movie's pacing. And while Thor 3 was a mess, at least it was fun. It might have been the most enjoyable MCU film.
