They're declaring bankruptcy because NY was investigating them because they are filed as a nonprofit but very clearly are not behaving like one, plus some tax fraud stuff IIRC and they're trying to take their assets and flee the state. Nonprofits can't relocate assets out of state while under investigation in NY but by declaring bankruptcy I think they're trying to get around that and take everything out of NY's jurisdiction before the hammer comes down.
