Its more pointing out just how much time is spent walking from point A to B getting into random encounters that youll just mash a button to basic attack through.
I'm not going to blow your mind here but I'll tell you why I enjoyed them.

Yes you could get away with mashing x most encounters but in some locations you'll get schooled by some enemies (first time reaching the area.) and here are some other things. The music, the story as you travel, the characters if you like them, random funny dialogue during fights, cool Aeon animations, just everything. Looking for treasures, mini games, enemy capture in X, converting monsters to cards.

A lot of it can be seen as mindless but it's a time sink on purpose. It's just the way it is. Everyone knows what they're in for when they buy these.

Plus these games aren't turn based anymore so your complaints date back to the 90's and early 2000s.

Do I wish they were harder? I'm with you man. But it's not boring either. I don't replay them either though lol I prefer games like devil may cry and SMT.
