My wife found it and thought it might be a good idea to get him learning it because, why the fuck not? If it is something he can learn early and get a jump on it who knows how it could help him in the future. He has A LOT to gain from it. Learning how to code isn't just learning about sheer programming. It's also developing logic and critical thinking in the process.
