From what I watched of him, he's a hardcore libertarian. As for the left vs right spectrum, he complained about both sides pretty heavily as it related to libertarianism so it's possible he's centrist. The brunt of his criticisms on social issues tended to fall towards the subject of personal accountability/responsibility, which in theory should be universal (but I guess in practice the notion is disliked by the left). He was also big on the idea of the family unit, which I suppose is also more of a right-leaning thing than a left-leaning thing.
