They really haven't. Educational spending is by far one of the US's biggest expenses (certainly at the municipal level) and Republicans have gone out of their way to ensure that outrageous generous amounts of money are being spent on a failed system that frequently churns out barely-literate graduates.

You do know that defund the police doesn't mean get rid if them. Republicans have been defunding the schools for years now, that's what they want for the police. They don't want over bloated police budget that they have military vehicles(some police stations have flat out Strikers, which are current military vehicles, while others have older military vehicles), and unlimited power to do whatever the fuck they want.

That's some creative reinterpretation, but the actual protesters have been pretty clear what they mean: They want the current cops gone.

Sure, not all protestors are that crazy -- some acknowledge wanting to keep law enforcement -- but many of them absolutely fucking are. And the crazies seem to outnumber the "what we really mean" crowd by a large degree.
