If someone says they are going to do something horrible to you, your family and friends and / or your possessions in a legitimate threatening manner, it could very well happen and there are no other witnesses and you don't have any proof to show police, are you just going to let them walk away knowing they are thinking that and will act on it, or confront them about it, knowing it could escalate?You can't just murder someone over an unsubstantiated verbal threat.
