Their possessions are their possessions, with the possible exception of certain high-ticket items that are actually owned by the parent who bought them and being used by the child. While a parent acts as custodian of a child's possessions, a child's possessions aren't a parent's possessions.

If it's in your wife's name, it doesn't matter. It's still one of your possessions unless there were legal pre-marital stipulations. That's why people try to transfer things to third-parties during divorces because merely having something in just your name isn't enough.
