You probably haven't seen very many anime then.

I've only seen several hundred (I imagine somewhere between 300-500), which is certainly on the low-end even for this board let alone true anime fans who are absolutely fanatical.

Actually, it's possible that I'm lowballing that number since I'm not counting standalone films at all. But still, by the standards of an enthusiast, it's rather small.

I think the main problem with dubs isn't with any specific dub, but just that they use the same 30 or so VAs for everything for decades. There's some pretty popular japanese VAs as well but you won't have shows where you realize the entire voice cast is basically the same voice cast as 10 other shows and 3 games. I think recently it's been moving away from that but I don't watch recent dubs so I'm not too aware personally.

It seems a problem more specific to certain anime. Plus some VAs are talented enough that their voices aren't distinctly the same.

Quality aside, one major advantage of dubs is that they don't require your full attention. You can actually take your eyes off the screen every once in a while without missing any dialogue.

This so hard, since it impacts my viewing ability.
