That's not even remotely what it says, if TC wrote it verbatim. Saying "DRIVE THROUGH AND CARRY OUT ORDERS ONLY" doesn't waive existing rules or expectations in any way. If a fast food place has previously banned people from walking up to a drive-through (and many do), there's nothing in that sign that says people are now allowed to use the drive-through as a walk-through. You're free to assume it MEANS that they're allowing that. But that's not a literal interpretation of what they've posted, only your assumption of how things should work. You might be right. But you might also be wrong. And it's not unrealistic for people to assume that isn't how things work, because they've never worked that way, and no alternative on contradiction has been explicitly posted. Especially since in most restaurants for most of modern history, "carry out" means you actually go inside to order. If anything, in order to "literally say" you can do walk-up orders in the drive-through, the sign would need to say something like "DRIVE THROUGH AND CARRY OUT ORDERS ONLY / PLEASE PLACE ALL ORDERS VIA DRIVE THROUGH WINDOW, CUSTOMERS NOT ALLOWED INSIDE" --- "Wall of Text'D!" --- oldskoolplayr76 "POwned again." --- blight family ...
