You don't even need a service like apple TV etc. Almost all the channels stream their shows online at this point, although you generally need to watch it within a few months of it airing (you can watch it that night).

You do have to watch commercials that way.

Otherwise, Hulu has alot of them with no comercials for $12 a month, and then netflix has pretty much the rest of them but you have to wait till the whole season is over (then binge it all at once).

If you have a hulu/netflix account they offer a free month to come back every 6 months, so you could pretty much just use them. Hulu actually lets you watch live shows the day they air though, so if you like a bunch of them, it might be worth just keeping it during the months live TV is airing decent stuff.

Netflix is pretty good to just snag twice a year (Every 6 months) and binge everything that has come out etc at that point.

I don't watch sports or the news, so that all works perfectly for me.

I watch (without paying for anything):

The good place, Supernatural, Young Sheldon, Legacies, Rick and Morty, Emergence, The Rookie and a few random other shows. I usually am subbed to something even if it's free as well (subbed to free Hulu and Disney + although I already canceled Disney + as there just wasn't enough I wanted to see on it) Both were free anyway so no biggie.

So if you have specific shows you like, check the networks website and see if they stream it for free before paying for cable or sling tv etc. Even if they don't, check Hulu (they have a version with comercials that is pretty cheap, and since it's on your comp (even if you hook it up to your TV), you can just post on gamefaqs etc while the comercial goes (I pay for no comercials...well if I actually pay, always get the no comercial one if it's a free month of course).
