I expected horror, and while there were definitely some unexpected scares/twists, there was so much soap opera I felt like I was watching a CW show.imo a big part of the appeal is more in the atmosphere and the way they tie in historical figures and events into these fictional storylines. It's an exploration of classic American urban legends, history, serial killers, folklore, etc., wrapped up into (imo) interesting stories.
