I don't let strangers (or even mild acquaintances) into my house unless I absolutely have to (like a plumber, electrician, etc). If I'm letting you in for anything other than business, there is already a tacit level of trust and expectation on your part to not be an asshole. I can probably count on two hands the number of people I've invited into my house who weren't family. I can count on one hand the number I've invited in who ARE family.

Which is why, if you betray that trust, I'm more likely to have a much stronger negative response. You've basically proved that I can't trust you.

I'm not really counting business/contractor people in this equation, because when I let people into my house to do a job, I pretty much shadow them the entire time and actively prevent them from going anywhere or doing anything I don't want them doing anyway.
