Imagine a first world country where medical care is a commercial concern about maximising profits rather than looking after the population of your country. The absurd prices are caused not by greed, but by the federal government's refusal to pay for patients hospitals have to deal with after making it a law to treat everyone regardless of financial situations. So they end up charging absurd prices to those that can pay. Medical staff isn't cheap either and they work a 12 hour clock as well as being one of the most miserable professions out there.
