Proving intent is important for the prosecution It's pretty hard to accidentally mark up a map with a sharpie and then present it as evidence for a point you're trying to make. The act was very clearly intentional. Ignorance of the law may be a mitigating factor in sentencing, but it does not change that a criminal act was committed. Of course, it's not like he'll ever actually face these charges in court, because that's just not how these things seem to work, so how easily he could prosecuted is sadly a moot point. --- This is my signature.
