The new moderation system is terrible. You can't even contest a warning to lead mod or admin anymore. You can only contest anything once, and then they "vote" on it. Given the prevailing political climate in the US, do you think most of the mods are liberal or conservative? Yeah... Good luck contesting any post with conservative leaning that someone decided to delete.

Before, the mods wouldn't want to tarnish their reputation by deleting things they don't like that didn't break the rules. You could contest them to lead mod or admin, and get them overturned. It's happened to me a few times, albeit rarely. The ones who deleted your message and then confirmed the initial moderation would look bad in the eyes of their "boss." That would make them wary of deleting just anything that they don't like. Now, when it's put to a "vote," anyone with non-politically correct opinions is screwed.

Some mod could show up here to explain how that's not true, etc. But let's not fool ourselves. When personal responsibility is taken away with this "voting" on whether a moderation is fair, and the moderation is on a message they disagree with, how will they vote? Let's not pretend all the mods are or could possibly be impartial, either - we know some of them.
