I use to get home after my shift(at UPS, but not the one that delivers to my house, which I know because I got a package for my neighbor that had to go to a different warehouse) and my driver would come there within the hour. And would wait for me. I ended up telling him to just drop it off in the screen door. He would still knock or ring the doorbell. So, I could finish taking a shower or nap or whatever. It actually worked out pretty well. I can't even imagine a world where this would happen. I don't thing anything like that has happened even once in the 40 years I've been alive. Maybe you live in a more rural area, where mail carriers are inherently more friendly and responsible? It's pretty much the only scenario I can think of.
