What reason is there to still believe this White House when it comes to things that make them look bad? If your standard operating procedure is deny until there's too much evidence to continue to deny, why should you take the opening denial salvo as fact as an average person? When you have anonymous sources and multiple people vehemently denying that they said those things, it's definitely something to take note of. What are these sources' motives? Are they credible sources? Who are they, even? Are they even actual people? Will the sources ever be revealed? Are there any records? Any evidence? The answer is likely no to most or all of these questions. Out of everyone in this group I would trust Mattis the most.
