What would happen was the hamburgers that were a bit too overcooked to be served on a bun would be moved to a warming drawer, and then later cut up for a pot of chili. I think sometimes they were even moved to a cooler. Not really that big of a deal since they get cooked in the chili again, so the meat is soft and not a health risk. I still ate the chili even after I knew about it. Wow, that's almost 1:1 with what other people are saying. Maybe they changed their ways since then?
