Ashnard is one of, if not the best, FE villain IMO. On a meta level it's also hilarious that one of the most informative conversations on his character is a battle convo with Reyson. As for Micaiah, while it has been a while since I played RD, I disagree with your characterization of how the narrative treats her. While it does acknowledge she does some terrible things, it - and the other characters - are almost always sympathetic to her and she still never truly faces the consequences of her actions.
