Good lord, just read some of the reactionary propaganda criticizing the firing which, unsurprisingly, provides *zero* content regarding the tweets themselves and just tells the story from Price's narrative.

Wanted to post a vid of a guy saying "Collateral damage," but couldn't immediately find one (and can't remember the movie where a character callously uses those words to answer a question about somebody else being hurt in an attack). However, his defense, while small, was extremely tone-deaf and unprofessional. He got caught up in a controversy because he deliberately inserted himself into the controversy in a provocatively stupid way.

He said one thing which wasn't bad at all. Him getting fired was moronic.

Him posting what he posted was moronic. Him getting fired for it because he chose to involve himself in the stupidest way possible could be seen as a little overboard, but he had made himself into a PR disaster.

Because companies are full of morons that think something a person did off their time is grounds for firing. Like the Chick-fil-A guy when it has no actual bearing on the company.

Bad press can have a direct impact on your company, especially when you're identifying yourself in relation to not just your company but a company in the entertainment industry. As for Chik-fil-A guy, his douchebaggery had less of a connection to his job although it's kinda hard to feel bad for an asshole taping themselves berating a fast food employee and then choosing to upload that footage.

And this isn't really a new phenomenon, it's just been updated for the internet age. You've always had at least some repercussions for egregious off-the-job conduct.
