Hexenherz posted...even though one state (Rhode Island) actually did legalize it (on accident) Basically, in 1980 they didn't make prostitution itself illegal but they made almost every act associated with it (streetwalking, pimping, etc.) illegal. Nobody really thought anything of it, until 2003 when the police tried to shut down two spas that were selling some "extra relaxing" treatments. The court ruled against the police, since the spas were not legally doing anything wrong, and people realized they could then sell their services through ways other than streetwalking (such as on the internet!).
