TopicI think my iMac is bricked. (no Apple or Mac OSX bashing here please).

Try to do a single user boot or drive select boot. I dont know the keys offhand. Your hard drive may have died. Though depending on the iMac thats almost as good as a brick.

I did have my MacBook throw that once and it hasnt since.

My iMac has a Fusion Drive or whatever it's called. Not sure if those are easily replaceable. Even if they are, it'll probably cost a ton of money for it and to get it repaired in a shop. I think the motherboard of an old MacBook Pro I had no longer worked and the shop told me it would cost like $1000 for the repair and part. That's almost as much as I had paid the damn notebook. xD
