Someone here wrote a detailed post explaining it and for Dragon Age: Inquisitor. For the most part I thought the explanation had merit.
Gamers as a whole are always fickle. Make the game too similar and one set of fans will complain. Make it too different and another set of fans will complain. Make it a sequel and some fans will think the developers can't be creative. Create a new set of characters and environment and fans will want to go back to characters they know. Can't please em all.....
For better of worse, I fear fans as a whole mighta been too harsh to the point that EA will not release any future Mass Effect or Dragon Age games and these are universes/worlds with rather good lore material I thought. Personally for me I enjoyed ME 1 through 3, DA: Origins, and DA 2. I wish some features were kept it while some features taken out but overall I still had fun.
Personally for me, I'll get to DA: Inquisitor and ME: Andromenda one of these days when I get my Steam backlog lower. I'm kinda forcing myself to not buy new single-player games and only limit my purchase to games that I will co-op with friends.
