In theory a reboot would the best option, but at that point, why bother? Just leave the series alone and create a new slasher boogeyman. I really don't get this at all. Why reboot? You can just go back to basics. Jason is never going to die so un-explaining his zombie-ness is pointless and though continuity is nice you don't have to incoporate it directly, just some nods if even that. What makes a new boogeyman slashing up folk any better than just having Jason do it again? Shit, you could practically turn each film into an anthology starring Jason so long as the creators don't go out of their way to retcon previous entries, the fans could do most the legwork where the timeline is concerned.
